Alteon Health Emergency Medicine Fellowship- Monroe, LA

The Alteon Health Emergency Medicine Fellowship located in Monroe, LA provides a unique opportunity for primary care physicians to obtain valuable training in emergency medicine. Alteon Health’s Post Primary Care Emergency Medicine Fellowship is recognized by the American Academy of Emergency Physicians. Fellowship graduates will qualify for the written exam for Board Certification in Emergency Medicine (BCEM) by the American Board of Physician Specialists.

The Monroe, LA fellowship is located at St. Francis Medical Center. Our emergency department offers 34 private rooms and has an annual volume of 52,000 visits. With a diverse patient population, high acuities and complex presentations, our ED allows fellows to gain a very robust clinical exposure. The program is designed to allow fellows exposure to and management of specialized cases including critical care, chest pain and STEMI, stroke , trauma, and pediatrics. Opportunities for procedures are abundant as well.

Clinical Duties include 14-15 shifts per month, approximately 140 hours/month in the ED. Fellows will participate in weekly web-based didactics with high-yield emergency medicine topics. The curriculum also includes instruction on essential emergency medicine procedures, airway management, and ED Ultrasound.

Our program is currently taking 3-4 fellows/year. Fellowship starts in August each academic year and lasts 12 months.
